We've created many static websites, hard coded in HTML, but today, most of our design work involves
creating dynamic websites. This design method has two main advantages:
- we can provide an easy way for our customers to edit their own
website information from any computer, 24 hours a day ---- and the changes are immediate (and free!).
- we can also create websites which automatically react to online visitors. This SimpleURL.com site is an
example. It accepts registration information from visitors through a series
of steps - then automatically registers their domain names while charging their credit card.
Owner maintained websites ...
The concept is simple. We agree on a basic design with you, but rather than hard code the HTML, we
write it into an active program that runs every time someone wants to see a page from your website.
The changing content of the page is stored in an organized database. The program grabs that content information
as it's needed and inserts it properly into whichever page is requested. The visitor sees a normal
looking HTML webpage with each click.
We provide you with a password protected way to access and edit all the information
in the database. It's done through a simple, web-based form, similar to placing an online order
using a shopping cart.
You click the appropriate choices to reach the content you need and then you type in the new information or
edit the existing information. When you submit the changes, the database is immediately updated. A
web visitor clicking on the affected webpage one second later will see the new
information! You can even upload images.
Interactive websites ...
The possibilities for interactive websites are as broad as your imagination. It can be as simple
as processing applications for your organization, or as far reaching as .... anything you can think of!
Well, not quite,
but the point is that you can now use a website as a means to interact with people anywhere, without requiring
them to have special software. Security can also be provided so that
you can restrict access on a person-by-person basis, if that's needed.
As an example, a school could use an online database to allow teachers to enter term grades for
their students. They would be able to access the database from school, home or anywhere by means
of their individual passwords. They could also be restricted such that they could
see or enter information for their students only.
The resulting database of information could then be manipulated
to generate report cards, calculate averages, order students by grade,
class, average, name, etc..
So the question is ...
Is there a way that YOU could significantly benefit from having a
dynamic website? If so, let us
